桃とぶどうの大産地に湧出した富士山石和温泉郷
富士山石和温泉郷は1961年にぶどう畑に湧出した温泉が、日本屈指の温泉街に発展したことで知られ、周辺はぶどうや桃の名産地で、広大な果樹園やワイナリーが続く立地にある。春の桃の花まつりや夏の桃狩り、秋のぶどう狩り、冬のワインまつりと、季節の恵みを楽しむイベントが催され、女性グループや家族連れにも人気が高い。「みさか桃源郷公園」や「モンデ酒造」「本坊酒造マルス山梨ワイナリー」などは、近隣の代表的な行楽スポットだ。

温泉のあれこれ

平安時代に行なわれた徒歩鵜漁を再現
鵜飼は古くは日本各地で行なわれた伝統漁法で、匠が鵜を操り魚を獲るもの。長良川などの鵜匠が小舟に乗って行なうスタイルが広く知られるが、石和鵜飼は鵜匠が直接川に入る「徒歩鵜（かちう）」が特徴。古くは能の演目として描かれており、その歴史は平安時代に遡るとされる。河川の状況にもよるが、7月20日頃から約1ヶ月間、かつての鵜飼川である笛吹川で催され、人数を限定し鵜匠体験も企画される。おすすめの伝統行事のひとつ。
