湯野浜温泉朝市と名物「浜なべ」
湯野浜温泉朝市は、湯野浜温泉で古くから続く春から秋にかけての風物詩。地元加茂漁港で水揚げされた魚や海産物をはじめ、乾物、青果など、地元でとれた新鮮な品が揃う。浜のおかみさんたちの笑い声や、威勢のいい掛け声が響き渡り、常に活気に満ちている。この朝市で名物となっているのが「浜なべ」。地物の魚介類がたっぷり入った鍋料理で、具も味付けもバラエティ豊富。忘れずに味わいたい。

温泉のあれこれ

波乗り発祥の地、湯野浜温泉
国道112号線沿いの浜には「波乗り発祥の浜」の碑と赤フン姿の青年のモニュメントが建っている。湯野浜では、「瀬のし」という1枚の板で波に乗る海遊びが昔からあった。1821年、酒田の俳人が湯野浜湯治でつけた日記には、この辺りの子どもたちが瀬のしで遊んでいたことが綴られている。これが今のボディーボーディングのルーツだ。1965年には、日本海で最初のサーフィンがここで始まった。今ではカイトサーフィンも盛ん。
