Tourist Attraction Information

Kawayu Yakushi is located in the hot spring resort area. From Hatsushinmon Oji Kumano, it continues to the Hongu Taisha Kumano It is the base of an ancient road and the Otaki-san of the contract river on the way is a famous place of interest.

塩分のある湯ならではの温泉グルメ
川湯温泉の湯は、塩分を含んでいるため、宿では温泉粥や温泉湯豆腐が提供される。温泉粥は、温泉の味が最もわかる素朴な品。さらりとした香ばしい薄い黄緑色の粥になり、まさに朝食にぴったり。温泉湯豆腐は、お湯ではなく温泉水で温めるので、温泉によって大豆本来の旨味が引き出される。まずはあつあつの豆腐をそのまま、次にだし醤油で食べると、おいしさがよりわかる。

温泉のあれこれ

川をせきとめた野趣あふれる大露天風呂
川の流量が減る12月～2月末日に、大塔川をせき止めて作られる巨大な露天風呂が「仙人風呂」。川底から絶えず湧き出す70度以上の源泉に川の水が混ざり合い、ほどよい温泉ができあがる。休日の昼間には大勢の観光客が訪れ混雑するが、夜間や早朝には、満天の星の下でせせらぎを聞きながらの湯浴みができる。1月に、仙人にちなみ1000枚の木製のカルタを湯船に浮かべ、カルタ大会が催される。夏は川遊びで冷えた体を温めるのに最適。
