温泉の名物

皆生温泉オリジナルのカクテルと地酒
皆生温泉旅館組合が、2004年に日本バーテンダー協会米子支部と共催で、カクテルコンペティションを開催し、そこでグランプリに選ばれたのが「海のしずく」。眼前に広がる海のマリンブルーをイメージした、やや甘口で口当たりがよいカクテルだ。2009年には、温泉旅館組合青年部が稲作農家や酒造会社などと連携し、オリジナル日本酒「皆生温泉海に降る雪上代」を開発。どちらも皆生温泉に来たなら飲んでみたい一品だ。

温泉のあれこれ

温泉歓楽街からアクティビティーの地へ
戦前、山陰随一の温泉歓楽街として賑わった皆生温泉は、戦後は団体客が多く訪れるようになり、現在のような温泉街に発達する。一方で健康的な温泉へイメージ変化を図り、1978年に弓ヶ浜に海水浴場を整備。1981年には日本初のトライアスロン競技が開催され、以降毎年大会が催されている。そのほかスキー、キャンプ、登山、釣りなどの拠点としての開発も行われ、各種イベントの開催や海岸遊歩道の整備などがなされている。
