Tourist Attraction Information

古くから親しまれる、素朴な味わいの祖谷そば
三好市にある『祖谷（いや）』は、深い山中にあり、昼夜の温度差が激しい場所。そのため、寒冷地を好む『そば』の栽培が昔から盛んで、良質なそばの実の産地になっています。『祖谷そば』は、つなぎをほとんど使用しないため、千切れやすく、ザラッとした舌触り。そして、太くて短い麺が特徴です。素朴な味わいに心から温められます。

祖谷に眠る秘密『祖谷平家伝説』
屋島の戦いで敗れた後、平国盛（教経）の一行は、ひそかに幼い安徳天皇をお守りしながら、祖谷の地にやって来ました。そして、山深いこの地で、平氏再興の望みをつないでいたといわれています。源氏の討手が祖谷の地に迫ってきたとき、敵の侵入を防ぐために、
いつでも切り落とせるように蔓を束ねて橋を造ったのが「かずら橋」といわれています。
