温泉のあれこれ

那須御用邸の完成と新那須温泉の発展
新那須温泉の歴史は、1923年、那須温泉郷の大丸温泉の源泉からの引湯に成功したことに溯る。やがて那須温泉の南、旭橋の下手に旅館が開業したことで、周辺一帯が新那須温泉と呼ばれるようになった。1926年、近くに那須御用邸が完成して以降、別荘地やホテル、ペンション、会社の保養所などが増え、那須高原を代表する保養地のひとつとなった。2007年からは御用邸用地北側の約560haが、「那須平成の森」として一般開放されている。
