寸又峡の冬の味覚、猪鍋
寸又峡温泉の宿では、地元の山菜やヤマメ・鹿・鴨など山の素材を使った料理が食べられる。特に、山里ならではの猪肉を使った猪鍋が、寸又峡の冬の味覚。地元の山菜のだしと相まって味は絶品。ぼたん肉とも呼ばれる猪の肉は、深紅色の赤身と脂身が色鮮やかな肉で、臭みがなくジューシー。肉質もとても柔らかく、しっかり煮ても硬くなりにくい。牛や豚に比べて低カロリーでビタミンB1が多く、体が温まるので女性客にも好評だ。

人気のSLとアプト式鉄道
寸又峡への足は、大井川沿いを走る大井川鉄道が人気。本線はSL列車が昔の宿場町・金谷から千頭間を1時間10分で結ぶ。力強く走る機関車とレトロな客車、山々に響き渡る汽笛、真っ黒な車体と煙、車窓から見る川や茶畑の景色などが楽しめる。千頭から井川へはアプト式機関車を使って、急勾配を登り降りする「南アルプスあぷとライン」に乗ろう。
