湯布院金賞コロッケとPロールは必須
「湯布院金賞コロッケ」は、全国コロッケコンクールで金賞をとった人気のコロッケ。北海道の男爵イモと、脂身を抜いた和牛の赤身のミンチを使用。外はサクサクと香ばしく、牛肉の旨味が存分に味わえる。屋台で揚げたてを販売しているので、散策中につい食べたくなる。「Pロール」は、旅館「山荘無量塔」がプロデュースするロールケーキ。柔らかさを極めたロールケーキで、クリームと甘さが控えめながらも、コクがあるのが人気。

古い歴史を持つ映画祭
湯布院は、1970年代から町ぐるみで女性客を意識した環境整備を続けてきた。そのひとつが「湯布院映画祭」。1976年の開始で、現存する映画祭では日本で最古の歴史を持ち、開催回数は30回を超える。地方映画祭の先駆けで、湯布院町は映画館を持たないため、「映画館のない町での映画祭」としても知られる。例年、8月に5日間にわたって行われ、上映だけでなく毎夜開かれるパーティーも、制作者と観客が直接語り合う機会となって人気。
