六日町名物といえば、「ことう」の「お六饅頭」。沖縄多良間産の特級黒糖を用い、もちもちした生地に、小豆の皮を取り除いて漉した「皮むき餡」が入っている。通常のこし餡よりなめらかで、喉越しがよいのが特徴。隠し味に蜂蜜、焼き塩などを入れた、独特の味と食感のまんじゅうだ。商品名にある「お六」は、六日町の誇り・直江兼続の幼少名「樋口与六」に由来する。

上杉景勝と直江兼続が生きた六日町
大河ドラマ「天地人」の主人公になった直江兼続が、主の上杉景勝と共に幼年期を過ごしたのが坂戸山の山城。今は山頂に本丸上屋敷跡、中腹の中屋敷、山麓の城主館、家臣屋敷跡などが残る。銭渕公園内には、兼続の生家をイメージした史料館「直江兼続公伝世館」が建つ。古民家を移築した建物で、兼続が使ったと伝わる軍配や変わり兜をはじめ、坂戸城のジオラマなど興味深い展示が多数。2人が生きた六日町を実感できる。
