温泉の名物

松之山温泉名物「志んこ餅」は地場米製
松之山温泉名物の「志んこ餅」は、「小島屋製菓店」が元祖。魚沼産コシヒカリを使った小判形の餅には、まろやかな風味のこし餡が包まれている。もとは「志んこばあちゃん」と呼ばれたおばあさんが、原材料から丁寧に作ったものを、製法を受け継いだ店主が研究を重ねたという。本笹包みの志んこ餅もあり、こちらは笹の香りが懐かしく、爽やか。

温泉のあれこれ

山ぎわの傾斜地に手をかけて生かす棚田
自然が豊かな里山と田に、生き物や美しい自然と景観が受け継がれている十日町市の棚田は、「日本の棚田百選」（※「農林水産省」認定）に選ばれている。松之山交差点の近くには、「千枚田」と呼ばれる棚田があり、標高約300m～500mにかけて、土地の起伏に合わせた田が並ぶ。高い畦で緩やかに縁取られた棚田に、雪解け水を温める温水路が作られ、はせがけ用の杉が並んでいる。丁寧に手入れされた田が階段状に続く景観は、まさに日本の原風景だ。
