明治初期に開設された「越後川口やな場」は、谷川連峰から始まる清流魚野川が、平野部に入り蛇行するポイントにある。大きなやなと、風が抜けるような食事処があり、春はヤマメやハヤ、夏は鮎や鱒、鯉、秋は鮭や鰻など、やなにかかったばかりの新鮮な川魚を食べさせてくれる。手づかみで捕まえる体験もでき、心を癒す川音や砕けるしぶき、ピチピチ跳ねる魚の姿に大人も童心に返って楽しめる。
