温泉の名物

平戸ちゃんぽん
長崎、小浜と並ぶ長崎県の平戸ちゃんぽん。鶏ガラ（または豚骨）とアゴ（トビウオ）ベースのスープが特徴で、さらに大きな特色は、だしにアゴを使うだけでなく、すり身にもアゴを使い独自の味わいを引き出している点。ここが魚に恵まれた海の幸の宝庫、平戸らしい。そして海鮮具材とかまぼこ、野菜がたっぷり入っている。麺は、森藤製麺所が作る唐灰汁を使用した麺を使うのが基本。

温泉のあれこれ

カピタンとシュガーロードと南蛮菓子
その昔、スペイン、ポルトガル、オランダなどが日本に医術・科学・宗教などを持ち込んだ。鎖国ゆえ大半を拒まれたが、砂糖や小麦等の材料と菓子やパンは、少しづつ日本に広まる。毎年江戸に赴くオランダ商館長（カピタン）に随従する宣教師が、街道沿いの村に小麦の種を撒き、パンや菓子の製法を伝えたからだ。カピタンらが歩いた長崎から小倉までの道は「シュガーロード」と呼ばれ、カステラやカスドース等の南蛮菓子が根付いた。
