温泉の名物

新鶴塩羊羹と信州らっかせん
上諏訪温泉のお土産といえば、「塩羊羹」と「信州らっかせん」。「塩羊羹」は、厳選された十勝の小豆と地元茅野の寒天を用い、楢の薪を焚いて練り上げるという創業以来の手作り製法を受け継いでいる。軽い塩味で、抑えた甘さが上品な味わいだ。「信州らっかせん」は諏訪大社の献上菓子で、細かく刻んだ落花生を入れて焼いた小麦粉の煎餅。薄く焼いた煎餅は、サクッと香ばしく懐かしい味。

温泉のあれこれ

高島藩の藩湯だった上諏訪温泉
諏訪湖畔の上諏訪温泉には、江戸時代、上諏訪四湯（精進湯、虫湯、小和田の平湯、湯の脇平湯）があった。「虫湯」は武家専用で「蒸湯」とも呼ばれ、この地を治めていた高島藩主も入浴したと伝わるが、現在は「虫湯跡」の碑が立つのみ。他の3湯は共同浴場となり今も残るが、小和田の平湯は地元住民専用。また、ホテル「ぬのはん」は江戸時代から続く宿で、当時は藩内の村役が泊まる郷宿だった。
