温泉の名物

わさびの名産地のわさび漬けをお土産に
穂高は「名水百選（環境庁選定）」にも選ばれた「安曇野わさび田湧水群」の清らかな水に恵まれたわさびの産地で、国道147号線やJR穂高駅周辺、旧道などに、たくさんのわさび屋が点在している。それぞれ自前の畑で採れたわさびを独自の製法で加工・販売しており、店によって味が違うので、食べ比べてみるのも面白い。

温泉のあれこれ

温泉の自動販売機「温泉スタンド」
温泉郷内の八面大王足湯のそばには、温泉の自動販売機「温泉スタンド」がある。日曜日以外は24時間いつでも買うことができる。摂氏90度以上ある中房の源泉から穂高温泉郷まで引き湯されていて、このスタンドの温泉温度は55～56度。軽トラックの荷台に積んだ300リットルのポリタンク一杯に温泉を持ち帰り、自宅の浴槽で温泉を楽しむ地元の人も少なくない。
