温泉の名物

ご飯と相性が最高の小谷漬け
白馬村の隣、小谷村で作られる名物の漬物が「小谷漬け」。小谷村で収穫される地物野菜（きゅうり、大根、にんじん、なす）を細かく切って醤油漬けにしたもので、みょうがとしその実が味のパンチとなっている。澄んだ空気とおいしい水が育てた、優しい野菜の味を感じられ、ご飯のおともやおにぎりの具にぴったりだ。地元では、おやきの具としても使われている。

温泉のあれこれ

夏の長い期間鑑賞できるホタルの生息地
温泉周辺では、夏になると小川でゲンジボタルを観賞できる。白馬乗鞍高原を流れる「ホタルの小川」は、6月中旬から9月末までという長期間、ホタルが見られる、全国でもまれなホタルの生息地だ。上流にある若栗温泉の温泉水と豊富な湧水が混ざることで、多様な水生生物が生息できている。暑い日の夜、比較的多く見られ、地元ガイドによるホタル観賞ツアーも開催される。
