Tourist Attraction Information

This hot spring is located along the Shiroishi River, and the Hekigyokukei is a great place for a stroll. You can also visit Zaimokuiwa Park, the Katakura family mausoleum, and the castle town of Shiroishi.

Highlights

It is famous for its effects on the eyes, and since ancient times it has been said that "the wound is the tip of the sickle, and the eye is the ohara". There is a rock bath called Katsura no Yu along the Shiroishi River.

温泉の名物

白石名物の白石うーめん（温麺）
小原温泉のある白石市の名物といえば、白石うーめん（温麺）。うーめんはそうめんの1種ですが、一般的なそうめんとは食感や味が異なります。通常、手延べそうめんは油を使用していますが、うーめんは油を使わないのが特徴です。形状も、そうめんよりも短い（9㎝）ので、小さなお子様やお年寄りも食べやすく、そうめんよりも太いため、伸びにくく小麦の風味が十分に味わえます。お土産として、乾麺でも売られております。

温泉のあれこれ

四季それぞれに楽しめる碧玉渓の散策
国道113号線を白石川上流に出ると、碧玉渓が広がる。命名は明治期にここを訪れた言論人・徳富蘇峰が、透き通るような碧と、玉のような美しさに感銘したことに由来。国道沿いには蘇峰の詞碑がある。新緑の時期には鮮やかな緑が目にしみ、夏は川風が心地よい。秋の紅葉は絶景で、雪景色は一幅の墨絵の趣だ。周辺は小原遊歩道が整備され、白糸の滝、親子滝と太鼓橋、入道岩、温泉神社等、美しい景色が次々と現れる。
