稀少動物の宝庫、白山山系
霊峰白山のブナ林は、野生動物にとって良好な生息環境で、稀少動物の宝庫となっている。石川県の県鳥・イヌワシは、翼を広げると2mに達する大型の猛禽類。生息数が少なく、天然記念物指定で、白山には40羽近くが生息している。同じく天然記念物のニホンカモシカも生息している。ほかにもツキノワグマやクマタカ、ニホンザル、県の絶滅危惧品種に指定されているアカショウビンも生息。ブナオ山観察舎で観察ができる。
