温泉の名物

土鍋を使った豪快な蒸し焼き「宝楽焼」
「宝楽焼」は、淡路島の郷土料理。土鍋（宝楽）に、那智黒石と昆布を敷き、その上に鯛やサザエなどの魚介類を置いて蒸し焼きにするものだが、宝楽に熱した黒石を敷き詰めることもある。口の中でほぐれる身の柔らかさや、魚介の凝縮された旨味が特徴。奈良時代に大和の宮人たちが御原へ狩猟に出た際、海女が海の幸を献上したのが始まりとされる。昔は焼き石を浜辺に敷き詰め、その上に昆布で包んだ鯛を置き、砂をかけて焼き上げた。

温泉のあれこれ

船のタイプが様々な渦潮観潮船
鳴門の豪快な渦潮を見る観潮船は、観光の定番人気。各会社それぞれ特徴のある観測船を持っている。鳴門観光汽船の「わんだーなると」は、大きな船なので揺れも少ない。「アクアエディ」は、水中展望室を持つ高速小型船で、水面下1mの展望室から海中の渦の様子が間近で見られる。そのほか、蒸気帆船の復元船「咸臨丸」や、日本を代表する練習用帆船のレプリカ船「日本丸」などがあり、それぞれにスリリングな渦潮体験ができる。
