大川といえば鮎が名物
芦ノ牧温泉を流れる大川は、鮎釣りで有名。毎年解禁日を待ちかねて、太公望で賑わう。シーズン中は、釣り竿を持つ宿泊客が多く見られるが、獲れたばかりの鮎を味わえるのは、釣り人ばかりではない。大川には落ち鮎のヤナ場「殿様ヤナ場」が設けられ、はね上げられた鮎をつかみ取り、その場で串に刺し炭火で焼くという、野趣あふれる食べ方ができる。せせらぎを耳にし、川面を渡る風を感じながら食べれば、おいしさは倍増する。
