福井の冬の味覚、越前ガニとセイコガニ
越前ガニは、福井県沖で水揚げされるオスのズワイガニの地域ブランドで、ズワイガニの中でも最高級品とされる。セイコガニとは、ズワイガニのメスのことで、卵巣である内子と、腹の房にある外子が魅力だ。内子はオレンジ色をしていて歯応えがあって濃厚。外子は、卵の成熟度によって色が変わる。プチプチとした食感で、醤油などを少し付けて食べるのが格別。冬の福井では、身がぎっしり詰まった越前ガニを存分に味わいたい。

温泉のあれこれ

日本海に沈む夕陽が美しい
東尋坊温泉のある坂井市三国町は夕陽が美しい町で、2ヶ所のスポットが特に美しいと言われている。ひとつは「東尋坊」。日本海の荒波の浸食によってできた巨大な柱状節理が、約1kmも続く豪快な景観を、夕陽が徐々に穏やかなシルエットに変えていく光景が素晴らしい。もうひとつは「三国サンセットビーチ」。遠浅で水のきれいな海水浴場で、海にゆっくりと沈んでゆく太陽が、しばし時間を忘れさせてくれる。
