田沢湖町で育った山の芋がふわっと美味
温泉名物は「山の芋鍋」。鍋に最適なコシの強い芋を田沢湖町内で栽培。この芋をすりおろし、ふわふわの芋だんごにして浮かべた鍋料理は、地域の板前が腕によりをかけて編み出したご当地鍋。鶏肉や鴨、豚肉などを具に、飲食店や宿泊施設それぞれが、独自に味付けを凝らす。田沢湖町は昼夜の気温の差が大きいため、芋の粘りが強く、独特の味わいに育つ。肉や野菜のダシがしみて、ふんわりぽってりとした食感で、満足感もいっぱい。

温泉のあれこれ

ブナ林の温泉郷にある七宿と多彩な源泉
温泉郷の7つの温泉宿は、それぞれ泉質が異なる源泉を持つ。秋田藩主の湯治場「鶴の湯」には白湯・黒湯・中の湯・滝の湯の4種類の源泉があり、先達川の渓流沿いの「妙の湯」は金の湯・銀の湯の2つの源泉が、近代的な「休暇村乳頭温泉郷」にも2つの源泉があるほか、木造校舎の宿「大釜温泉」や、郷の最奥で源泉が眺められる「黒湯温泉」、原生林の露天風呂がある「蟹場温泉」、薬湯の湯治場風情の「孫六温泉」と、湯めぐりが楽しい。
