温泉の名物

三河湾名物の大粒の絶品アサリ
蒲郡市は、全国有数のアサリの産地として有名で、ここのアサリは身が大きく、味がよいと評判。西浦温泉でも2ヶ所で潮干狩りを楽しめ、例年は3月～6月にかけて解禁となる。岩場が多い場所での潮干狩りになるので、熊手のほかにカマなどがあると便利。焼いてよし、味噌汁もよし、てんぷらもよしと、おいしいアサリ尽くしに、誰もが舌鼓を打つこと請け合い。帰りには立寄り湯でリフレッシュするもよし。

温泉のあれこれ

万葉歌人にも愛された西浦半島の夕陽
西浦半島一帯は風景が美しく、特に知多半島に沈む夕陽の美しさは、古くから万葉歌人にも愛され、多くの歌が詠まれている。これにちなみ、温泉街から稲村神社に通じる500mほどの遊歩道には、ムラサキシキブ、シラハギなどの万葉の花が咲き、「万葉の小径」と呼ばれている。三河湾の美しさを詠んだ高市連黒人の「安礼の崎」の歌を中心に、柿本人麻呂、麻績王、長忌寸奥麿ら7つの万葉歌碑が置かれ、詩情あふれる道となっている。
