Hokkaido highest peak for autumn foliage

Asahidake, the main peak of the Daisetsuzan mountain range, is the highest peak in Hokkaido, boasting an altitude of 2,291 meters.
It is one of the 100 most famous mountains in Japan, and is popular with beginner climbers as well, as you can take a ropeway to an altitude of about 1,600 meters.

点在する奇岩と色づく紅葉が織り成す他では見られない風景

層雲峡の特徴は柱状節理の渓谷とそこに点在する奇岩怪石です。秋になると、岩の屏風に描かれる紅葉の錦絵が大変美しく、人々を魅了します。
黒岳は、ロープウェイに乗り気軽に紅葉の空中散歩を楽しめます。
頂上から山麓のロープウェイ乗り場まで、例年9月上旬から1ヶ月ほどかけて色付き、ナナカマド、ウコンウツギ、ミネカエデなどは9月中旬から下旬に見頃を迎えます。
