What is Kyoto Gozan Okuribi?

8月16日夏の夜空をいろどる京都五山送り火。
京都の夏を代表する風物詩の一つで、東山如意ケ嶽の「大文字」がもっともよく知られ、それゆえ送り火の代名詞のごとくいわれていますが、そのほかに松ヶ崎西山（万灯籠山）・東山（大黒天山）の「妙法」、西賀茂船山の「船形」、大北山（大文字山）の「左大文字」、及び嵯峨鳥居本曼荼羅山の「鳥居形」があり、これらが同夜順番に点火され、これを京都五山送り火と呼んでいます。
