期間限定で見に行くことができる絶景
市街地から糠平(ぬかびら)、十勝三股(とかちみつまた)の山岳森林地帯を南北に貫く国道273号に並行して所々に見かける、かつての国鉄・士幌(しほろ)線で使われたコンクリート造りのアーチ橋。
まるで古代ローマ時代の水道橋を思わせる高架橋は、鉄道橋としての活躍の時代を終え、今は東大雪の開拓の歴史を伝える近代産業遺産として、その姿を見せています。
中でもタウシュベツ川に架かる『タウシュベツ川橋梁(通称めがね橋)』は糠平湖の水かさが増える6月頃から湖面に沈み始め、10月頃には湖底に沈みます。水かさが減る1月頃から凍結した湖面に再び姿を現すため、“幻の橋”といわれています。
平成13年10月“北海道遺産”に選定されました。
