Notsuke Peninsula (Hokkaido)
この世の果てと呼ばれる野付半島・トドワラ
野付半島は全長26キロメートルで、日本最大（※）の砂嘴（さし=海上に長く突き出た地形）。北海道の東、知床半島と根室半島の中間に位置します。
岸沿いに流れる海水によって運ばれた土砂が堆積してできており、その道幅は、狭いところでなんと50メートル！まるで海の上を走っているかのような感覚です。
野付半島は、実は全体が地盤沈下を起こしており、やがてはなくなってしまう土地といわれています。
海水に浸食された森が立ち枯れ、トドマツがそのまま残るスポットが「トドワラ」です。
その自然の豊かさから、北海道遺産やラムサール条約にも登録されています。
