約4,000本のモミジのトンネルが有名な紅葉名所
日本全国の紅葉名所のひとつとして、すっかり有名になった「香嵐渓」は、今から約380年前の寛永11年、飯盛山にある香積寺（こうじゃくじ）の三栄和尚が、「美しい自然を、より美しく」…との願いをこめて、一本一本モミジの木を植えていったことがはじまりと言われています。
大正末年から昭和初期には、周辺住民のボランティアでモミジの苗木が再び植えられ始め、昭和5年に「香積寺の香」と、山中に発する山気すなわち「嵐気」から、『香嵐渓』の名がつけられました。
モミジの本数は4,000本を超え、赤、橙、黄と色が重なり、巴川の清流に映えてまさに絶景です。
